Cut sided teabowl, clay body with a creamy Shino glaze inside.
In Japan, tea ceremonies are contemplative rituals, and offer an opportunity to appreciate the tactile and aesthetic qualities of the teabowl. The form I often make is known as a yunomi. When held in the hands the form can be fully sensed. I throwtea bowls on a kick wheel, faceting the wall of the bowl before forming its final shape.
