Pots > Hand-built pots
Although a lot of my work is thrown on the wheel, I also very much enjoy hand building, working off the wheel. I make slab dishes with feet, these flatter surfaces encourage me to explore mark making and incising into the clay. Salt glaze picks up the detail very clearly.
I make rounded pressed dishes, which I fire on the edge of the hottest kiln shelves, which means they usually attract heavy ash and salt deposits.
Recently I have been working on boat shapes which is proving challenging and interesting! I have a number of these in the gallery at present.
